Waxed cotton has been at the heart of Barbour's business since 1894. Founded by John Barbour in the bustling port town of South Shields in the northeast of England, Barbour was a key supplier of protective outdoor outerwear for local sailors, fishermen, and shipyard workers. Rewaxing, as it was originally known, first appeared in the 1921 catalog when Malcolm Barbour, the second son of the Barbour family, began offering customers the option to re-wax their jackets. Customers could send their jackets back to Barbour or re-wax them at home using the Beacon Oilskin Dressing can.
Malcom understood right away that by waxing the jacket, its longevity and resistance to time and weather are extended, ensuring its preservation for many years. To choose the right product for your dog, you need a soft measuring tape. The measurement should be taken carefully with your dog standing on all fours, and depending on the size you need, proceed as follows:
Back Length:
Measure the length of your dog's back by measuring the distance between the shoulder blades and the base of the tail (The dog should be standing to ensure an ideal measurement). The measured length can be used to determine the size of the clothing.
Chest:
Measure the circumference of your dog's abdomen just behind the front legs at the widest point of the chest. The measuring tape should be positioned snugly so that it does not move; to the measured width, add 2cm and get the measurement at the height of the chest.
Choker:
It is measured by placing a flexible tape measure around the center of the neck. The tape should be tight, then add 2 cm.
